Alive with Jesus. Poetry with Mary, Lazarus and Jesus.

 Lazarus' Re-Collection

Wind Shifted when you stepped in

Death stench lifted

Your breath blew in

Sweet smell of re-creation

LIFE-

That’s what it is!

Newness like birth’s first breath

A holy moment

And I am re-born

You shouted my name

“LAZARUS”

You re-membered me

Halted neurons re-connected,

Again my ear drums buzzed

Burgeoning veins pulsed blood-

Muscle fiber tensed, limp no longer.

Your voice

Awoke me

From this death dream

The Vitality of your vocal cords

Cleared my consciousness

Death now obsolete

I have been made and re-made

As you commanded re-creation

“Come Out!” You shout

Re-verberating waves crescendo into command

I obey

Acquiescence is the only thing possible

This bag of bones, alive again

I Rise and step into

Your glorious life-light

Mary's Offering Of Love in Bethany

You see me, Jesus, down here in the dust

My hair wrapped around your feet

Mingled dirt and oil, my tears pouring out.

Wiping this overwhelming scent over your calloused skin

You see me as I am

Nothing more to hide

You saw me when I was  wrapped in mystery

Cells split and became a human form  in my mother’s womb

Maker of microns

Creator of galaxies

Your human skin holds God

And I hold you

Here at your feet

You defend my actions against

harsh accusations

You give me dignity

You know the inner workings of my heart and mind

And somehow I know you know this love-

What I feel in the depths of my being

you receive,

your God heart in human skin

 soaks up this fragrant oil

You absorb my love as precious perfume pours out

You Accept my tears

And wrap this vulnerable life of mine

In your extravagant love

Like you have all along

Jesus receives Mary's gift

Piercing fragrance fills my nostrils

and I feel oil

Poured on my feet

You knew

Somewhere in that place where hearts are wiser than words

Love would linger

extravagant  aroma anoints my skin

You honor me holy affection- love poured out

My human heart filled to the brim with it

Generous- this gift costs you all

I received your tears,

Your love-offering.

Your love- returned to its source

Remained, became a part of me, again.

Love remained, I could smell it-

When I was rejected,

Accused

Betrayed

Tortured

Lingering fragrance

Of your overwhelming affection

Wafted lightly

As I was pierced with hatred

nailed to rough wood

Yet

The fragrant molecules left by your love

I inhaled, internalized

And exhaled my last breath.

Your love lingers still.

Life

Had the final say

Three days later

When you returned

With your love gift of anointing oil again

You keep pouring out this love - death doesn’t stop you

It didn’t stop me either

“Mary” I call your name

And You see me as I am

Your breath catches for a moment, do you recognize this agape fragrance ?

Remember the scent of life re-made, re-membered, re-created?

I am here, yes, death did not have the final say

I am

Source of all aromas,

I am life

I am the true gardener

Standing in the flowers,

With you.
